The woodwork of bent plywood with a top layer of Teak wood is cleaned with steel wool and treated with hard wax oil. Together with the new wine red skai upholstery this chair looks unused.
Cor Alons (1892 - 1967) was an interior architect, industrial designer, furniture designer and teacher at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.
As a representative of functionalism, Alons designed simple furniture with sober lines and solid constructions, using valuable materials and a variety of colours.
In 1929 he became a teacher at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and became an important teacher of Rob Parry.
In 1962, he was honored with an exhibition at the Gemeente Museum in The Hague for his 70th birthday. Today, you can see his work at the Centraal Museum Utrecht.
